Danyl Aaron Johnson rocketed to fame and into our living rooms via The X Factor in August 2009, where he subsequently ended up coming fourth. He amazed the audience, and judges alike, with his rendition of Joe Cocker’s “With A Little Help From My Friends”, which has since become a You Tube sensation with over EIGHTEEN MILLION views.

Simon Cowell- who famously named it the “best first audition” he had ever heard- said “It was like his first concert. It was not like anything I had experienced before”. Born in Hillingdon, Middlesex on 17th of June 1982, Danyl has taught at several stage schools in and around Reading; which has since become an integral part of his life. Danyl began pursuing his music career with two boy bands: Upfrunt and StreetLevel. StreetLevel disbanded in 2006 as they were unable to find the right management. Danyl later collaborated with Nick Burrage and formed Empty Spaces; whereby their music continues to remain popular today. Since leaving The X Factor, Danyl has been busy touring the UK and Ireland as part of the 50-date sell out X Factor arena tour as well as following up a string of solo gigs.

He also made his acting debut in the ITV award-winning sitcom “Benidorm”. Danyl stresses this is something he would love to do again in the future. However, Danyl’s irrepressible passion and admiration for music remains his priority.

“I am working on the album with some fantastic people right now. You have got to sit down, work with the producers, see what your sound is going to be. It just takes time and it is really important to me that I am happy with it” says Danyl. Danyl has already touched the hearts of millions, and if his album mirrors his high-energy and tear-jerking X Factor performances, everyone is in for a treat.
